Surf Sports

Surf Sports was first introduced as a tool to develop and retain members in the movement. The sport also provides members with an active and healthy lifestyle and comradery.

Today, Surf Sports offers events all year round in the surf, on the beach and in the pool. In the surf, events include surf swimming, board paddling, surf ski, Ironman, surf boat and Inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB’s). On the beach, events are beach flags, beach sprint and relays. In the pool, pool rescue events simulate contact and non-contact rescue techniques.

Surf Sports also encompasses Lifesaving and first aid events which tests the skills and knowledge of members to complete simulated scenarios. These competitions include First Aid, Patrol Competition and Champion lifesaver.

Newcastle Permanent Ironperson Series

Now in its 18th season, the Newcastle Permanent Ironperson Series has built a reputation as the leading Junior Ironperson Series in NSW, with each round hotly contested by up to 250 competitors from the Central Coast and throughout NSW.

The event format aims to provide an opportunity for aspiring junior Ironman/women to race similar courses to that of their heroes in the professional Ironperson Series. In fact, these challenging but fun course formats provide the perfect development platform for our stars of the future with many past series winners progressing through the ranks to qualify for professional Ironperson Series’.

The series will conclude with an official presentation after the third and final round of the competition. In total, there will be $10,000 in giveaways and prize money on offer.
